If you have been searching for "Dragon NaturallySpeaking discontinued" or "is Dragon Home still available," the short answer is: Dragon's consumer line is winding down. Microsoft acquired Nuance (Dragon's maker) for $19.7 billion in 2022 and has clearly pivoted the brand toward enterprise healthcare. The consumer products are either gone, frozen, or cloud-only-subscription. If you depend on Dragon for daily voice typing, you need a plan.
The current state of Dragon, in 2026
Here is what is actually available from Nuance/Microsoft today:
- Dragon Home: Discontinued in 2023. No replacement.
- Dragon Professional Individual v16: Still sold at $699 one-time, but frozen at version 16 since 2023. No updates. UI is from the 2015 era. No Windows 11 specific improvements.
- Dragon Anywhere (Mobile): Still active. $14.99/month or $149.99/year. Cloud-only, requires internet. Mobile-focused. Five-year cost: $750.
- Dragon for Mac: Discontinued since 2018. No replacement.
- Dragon Medical One: Active, but enterprise only. $79-$99/user/month. Sold to hospitals, not individuals. Five-year cost: $4,740-$5,940.
The pattern is clear: Microsoft is letting consumer Dragon die. The investment is going into Dragon Medical (for hospital clinicians) and into Microsoft's own Voice Access feature built into Windows 11. If you are a regular human who uses Dragon for daily writing, you are not in Microsoft's roadmap.
What this means for current Dragon users
If your existing Dragon installation works, there is no immediate emergency. You can keep using Dragon v16 indefinitely — until something in Windows changes that breaks it. The risks over the next 1-3 years:

- New Windows hardware (especially ARM-based) may not support Dragon
