It is significantly more tolerant of slowed, slurred, or atypical speech than older dictation engines. Can I use it with a switch interface or alternative input?
Yes. CaringDictate uses a configurable hotkey that can be any keyboard key, any mouse button, or any input that a switch interface software (AbleNet, Tecla, AutoHotkey-mapped foot pedal) presents as a keystroke. Is this approved for IEP/IDEA assistive technology funding?

Will it work if my CP causes inconsistent muscle control?
The recognition itself is robust to slowed and varied speech. The hotkey is what matters for triggering — you can configure it to use whatever key or button is most reliable for you. Some users find press-and-hold works better than press-once because it eliminates the chance of accidentally triggering recognition twice in a row.
I am a parent of an adult with CP. Will they be able to use this independently?
Probably yes, depending on the specifics. The interface is intentionally simple — one hotkey, one talk, the words appear. There is no software to learn, no menus, no commands.
